Mechanical Properties of Shale-Reservoir Rocks Based on Stress–Strain Curves and Mineral Content

The evaluation of rock mechanic characteristics shale reservoir is the key for success fracturing. Several limitations such as complex lithology can affect accuracy property computation. In this research, mechanical properties reservoirs were analyzed based on experimental tests including shale-reservoir mineral composition, uniaxial compressive strength, and triaxial compression tests. results showed that (1) difference in composition leads to easier fracturing sand compared with pure reservoir. (2) Under conditions, parameters along vertical bedding direction are better than parameters. parallel less affected by lithology. confining pressure increases more 4.0 times strength rocks, Young’s modulus higher direction. (3) Rock failure mode mainly subdivided into cutting splitting modes, features highly influence drilling operations. This study offers guidelines optimization process accurate properties.
